Men’s Tournament Overview

Auburn secured the No. 1 overall seed over Duke, while North Carolina and Texas clinched spots in the field, leaving several hopeful teams disappointed. The SEC made history by sending a record 14 teams to the tournament.

Men’s No. 1 Seeds:

  • South: Auburn (No. 1 overall seed)
  • East: Duke
  • Midwest: Houston
  • West: Florida

Tennessee, Michigan State, Alabama, and St. John’s earned No. 2 seeds.

Auburn secured the top seed after a stellar 28-5 season, navigating the second-toughest schedule in the country. Despite losing three of its last four games, including a semifinal defeat to Tennessee in the SEC Tournament, the Tigers’ dominant regular season and 16 Quad 1 wins earned them the committee’s top ranking.

Duke, meanwhile, finished 31-3 and dominated the ACC with a 19-1 record. However, the Blue Devils’ strength of schedule (57th) played a role in Auburn securing the top overall seed. Duke remains a championship favorite, especially if Cooper Flagg returns from injury.

Women’s Tournament Overview

On the women’s side, UCLA was awarded the No. 1 overall seed, with South Carolina, Texas, and USC rounding out the top spots.
