Davante Adams Joins Rams, Ushering in New Era in Los Angeles

Six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams is headed to Hollywood. The Los Angeles Rams officially announced on Sunday that Adams has agreed to a two-year deal, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his storied career.

Adams’ arrival signals a shift for the Rams, who are preparing to part ways with longtime star Cooper Kupp. While Kupp has been a cornerstone of the franchise, the addition of Adams ensures the Rams still have a top-tier playmaker at wide receiver.

A Rocky Departure from New York

Adams’ journey to Los Angeles began with an abrupt exit from the New York Jets. The team released him on March 4, just weeks after moving on from his close friend and former quarterback Aaron Rodgers. It was a clear indication that the Jets were wiping the slate clean after a disappointing 5-12 season that led to an organizational reset under new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey.

With Adams’ contract set to count a staggering $38.3 million against the Jets’ cap in 2025—an NFL-high for wide receivers—New York made the tough financial decision to move on. By cutting Adams, they freed up $29.9 million in cap space, giving them much-needed flexibility for their rebuild.

Breaking Down Adams’ New Contract

Adams’ deal with the Rams is structured to provide both security and incentives. He will earn a base salary of $8 million in 2025 and $16 million in 2026. His 2025 salary is fully guaranteed, along with a $6 million roster bonus due on the third day of the 2026 league year. Additionally, he secured a $12 million signing bonus and has the potential to earn up to $1 million in incentives each season.

Still a Dominant Force

Despite his turbulent time in New York, Adams proved he still has plenty left in the tank. After a slow start, he surged late in the season, finishing with 67 receptions, 854 yards, and 7 touchdowns in just 11 games with the Jets. When combined with his production from the first part of the season with the Raiders, Adams surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the fifth consecutive year. His standout moment? A jaw-dropping nine-catch, 198-yard performance that helped lift the Jets to victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Cementing a Legacy

At 32, Adams remains one of the most accomplished wide receivers of his generation. A three-time first-team All-Pro, he has amassed 957 receptions, 11,844 yards, and 103 touchdowns over his 11-year career. Originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2014 draft, Adams carved out a legacy in Green Bay, ranking second in franchise history in touchdown receptions (93) and fourth in receiving yards (8,121).

Now, Adams embarks on a new challenge with the Rams, a team looking to make a deep playoff push. With a fresh start in Los Angeles, he has a chance to write another thrilling chapter in his already illustrious career. Rams fans, get ready—Davante Adams is bringing his elite talent to L.A.
